Rufiji River – Tanzania
The Rufiji River gathers the runoff from most of southern Tanzania. By the time it reaches the Selous Game Reserve it is a river of significant size, home to thousands of hippos and hundreds of crocs, and the water source for the diverse wildlife of the reserve. We float its quiet waters and occasional rapids, watching for wildlife, taking in the scenery, dodging the hippos, and experiencing a wild Africa seldom visited in the modern world of Land Rovers and zebra-striped vans. 11 days, July, December and January.
